Building student involvement, fostering civic engagement and enhancing community service to advance public health.

Stop by and check out Tufts Smile Squad’s bulletin board on the 7th floor!

Smile Squad is a student-run community outreach organization that was first organized in 1982.

They place emphasis on oral health education by visiting schools in the Boston area. While in the classroom, student dentists discuss the importance of proper oral hygiene and nutrition through presentations, puppet shows, and one-on-one instruction, depending upon the age group of the children. In the past year alone, we have visited schools in Dorchester, Roxbury, Medford, just to name a few. We also participate in health fairs, such as the Oak Street Fair in Chinatown. More recently, the Smile Squad has broadened its scope to include visits with special needs children and assisted living facilities.

All Smile Squad events are high-energy, busy and fun! You will have the opportunity to interact with many children and their families and teach them how to take care of their teeth. If you are interested in participating in Smile Squad activities, please contact one of their E-board members.
