Building student involvement, fostering civic engagement and enhancing community service to advance public health.

Thank you to all of the D24 volunteers who participated in the Community Servings service event! It was a lot of fun to chef it up in the kitchen. Students prepared and packaged meals for critically ill clients. We also had some beautiful cards crafted to send to clients to brighten their day. It was great being able to connect with one another while serving those in need.

Community Servings is an organization that provides medically tailored meals for individuals with medical needs. This year alone, they have provided 650,000 meals to 2,300 critically ill individuals and their families. In addition to providing delicious meals, they offer nutrition education and counseling and food service job training for those interested in careers in the food service industry who face barriers to full-time employment.

It’s wonderful to see how many of our classmates we’re so eager to volunteer. D24 Community Service Liaisons, Kennedy Moore and Arika Neal-Branch, hope to make this an ongoing service opportunity in the future.
