Dr. Christina Pastan has collaborated with a colleague from Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, Dr. Juliette Daniels, to present to you:

QPR: A Protocol for Inspiring Hope to Individuals Experiencing Suicidal Crises

Overview

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR Training reinforces that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. QPR plants the seeds of hope, which can save lives.

Course Objectives
At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the warning signs of suicide
  • Identify risk and protective factors for suicide
  • Identify how to help someone in a mental health crisis

Given all that you have experienced this year, I strongly encourage everyone to attend this presentation on Thursday, January 21st from 5:00-6:30 pm. Each of you will immediately be able to apply what you learn from Dr. Daniels to your personal and professional lives.
