Join Tisch College for a conversation about humanitarian aid, food policy, and transforming communities through the power of food. Twice named to Time’s “100 Most Influential People” list and awarded “Outstanding Chef” and “Humanitarian of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation, José Andrés is an internationally recognized culinary innovator, New York Times best-selling author, educator, humanitarian, and chef/owner of ThinkFoodGroup. One of the most famous chefs in America and a pioneer of Spanish tapas in the U.S., Andrés has been a tireless advocate for immigration reform, food policy, and disaster relief. In 2015, President Obama awarded him the National Humanities Medal at the White House. He is founder of the nonprofit World Central Kitchen, which has earned global respect for its chef-driven humanitarian and disaster relief operations which provided over two million meals for those in need in Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria and was most recently active in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian. He was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 and received an honorary degree from Tufts University earlier this year.
