On September 7, TUSDM hosted its first-ever “DentalFest” competition! In this special event, 12 teams of pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students participated in entertaining and educational dental-related challenges such as a patient-provider role play; tooth identification; the creation of a video encouraging children to brush their teeth; dental trivia; and more. The top three teams competed in a championship round in which they answered questions in a “Dental Family Feud” format. All participants did terrifically well; the winning teams were:
1st place: Camille Neste-Laboy, Najmeh Esmaeilnejadganji, and Yolanda Ho (all DG20)
2nd place: Rachelle Cadet, Gynnekia Booth, and Kristin Bradley (all D20)
3rd place: Siobhian Sprott (DG20), Claire Park (DG21), and Michelle Vo (DG20)
DentalFest was hosted by TUSDM’s Division of Biostatistics and Experimental Design (Drs. Matthew Finkelman, Britta Magnuson, Sarah Pagni, and Shruti Jain) along with fellow team members Dr. Joanne Falzone, David Alpert, Romina Aznavaleh, Jacksyn Clanton, Devon Ptak, Annie Rao, and Lemma Salem. The event sparked a fun, energetic, and community-oriented atmosphere among participants, faculty judges, and other volunteers. It also included a fundraising component and raised approximately $2200 to benefit three TUSDM outreach programs (Sharewood, Tufts Dental Facilities, and Give Kids a Smile) via a raffle and support from the Tufts University Dental Alumni Association. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who attended!
