The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) participated in the East Boston Social Centers Health on November 5, 2016. They held oral health screenings while promoting good oral hygiene.
Alexandra Peacock-Villada (D18) reflects:
“This experience opened my eyes to the importance of dental health awareness. Many people at the fair admitted to not having a dentist and were eager to receive oral health screenings. It felt good to teach them the importance of maintaining their oral health and the impact it has on their overall health. Personally, I love interacting with the huge Spanish-speaking community in East Boston because I can always feel their appreciation and excitement about having more Latinos in health care. Even the simple act of handing each person a toothbrush, toothpaste and a Tufts Dental School Clinic pamphlet raises awareness about the importance of oral health and that we are here to help.”
