hanco-llThe Head and Neck Cancer Organization (HANCO) invites you to join them as they hold a series of Lunch & Learns, starting this semester. The first two sessions, which will be held on Oct. 24th and Nov. 28th, will feature speakers from our very own Oral Pathology Department, Dr. Mark A. Lerman and Dr. Tanya A. Wright. Both Dr. Lerman and Dr. Wright will be discussing valuable information regarding and diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer that is extremely pertinent to us as future dentists.

Here is a breakdown of the first 2 Lunch & Learns:

Lunch & Learn 1
“Overview of Head and Neck Cancer” with Dr. Lerman
This Lunch & Learn will entail information about the epidemiology of oral cancer, risk factors, and the roles of dentists and dental specialists in diagnosis.

Lunch & Learn 2
“Head and Neck Exam” with Dr. Wright
This Lunch & Learn will entail information about how to conduct the head and neck exam, common landmarks and anatomic variants, and diagnostic techniques.

Future Lunch & Learns will dig deeper into different types of head and neck cancers, and will segway into Lunch & Learns with guest speakers from different disciplines involved in the diagnosis and treatment of H&N cancer. These Lunch & Learns will consist of speakers from departments such as oral surgery, ENT, and oncology, along with oral cancer survivor patients.

HANCO’s goal is to provide a comprehensive learning experience for students who are interested in head & neck cancer and its treatment, so don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to learn from our faculty and guest speakers!
