Building student involvement, fostering civic engagement and enhancing community service to advance public health.

On September 24, 2016, Tufts SNDA was able to rescue and deliver pounds of food that will feed lunch meals to Veterans in the Safe Haven Program at the New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV). The program is designed to provide a recovery model of supportive housing that serves hard-to-reach Veterans who continue to struggle with barriers to stability and sobriety. NECHV residents in the Safe Haven Program are required to maintain sobriety while living on-site, so this program helps the NECHV reach more Veterans who might be struggling in that area.

It was great to serve the Veterans by providing them with delivered meals. No matter the time of day, SNDA is ready to SERVE! As students we are taught about Nutrition, but it was great to actually apply that info via service. Having many family members and classmates that are Veterans, it was a meaningful service event that had a personal touch.

A quick reminder: SNDA will be participating in the Oral Cancer Walk/5K next Sunday. Here is the link to our fundraising page/team!

The Oral Cancer Foundation is a national public service, non-profit entity designed to reduce suffering and save lives through prevention, education, research, advocacy, and patient support activities.
