D19 Community Service is at it again! On 03/02/16, seven D19 students attended the Wednesday Supper Club at the Paulist Center in Boston. This dinner is hosted by the Paulist Center every Wednesday night and serves close to 150 homeless people. In addition to dinner service tasks including set-up, food distribution, and drink distribution, the D19s also brought along the Oral Health Jeopardy game and oral hygiene prizes.
Dan Allen (D19) reflects on his experience and the renewed sense of gratitude it provided for the blessings in our lives:
“The event was a wonderful time to help those who need help the most. While at the event, we helped the other volunteers set the tables and prepare the food to be distributed to the individuals who attended the event. The individuals who attended the meal had a great time with the jeopardy and were very thankful for their toothbrush and toothpaste that they received upon answering questions. The Paulist Center has hosted Wednesday Night Supper Club every week and has been doing so for quite a long time. This was a great evening that allowed me to reflect upon how fortunate I am with the countless blessings that have been bestowed upon me in my life. The individuals there, although homeless, set aside their misfortunes and enjoyed an evening of laughter, conversation, and warm food! I look forward to future events like this one and hope to be able to share the experience in the company of friends.”
