Tufts MLK “Project Got Your Back” Donation Drive
(January 21, 2016 – February 12, 2016)
Approximately 800,000 children every year come in contact with the foster care system. Oftentimes, when a child must be removed from their home and placed with a foster family, their belongings are packed into a plastic shopping bag or not taken at all—increasing the feeling of displacement in a moment when love and concern is most needed. “Project Got Your Back” is being organized in response to this local need as a backpack drive to support displaced children in our local community . The collected items will be distributed to the Department of Children and Families in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a part of the 2016 Tufts University programs honoring the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We are collecting new and gently used backpacks (or other bags), new/clean clothing, underclothing, socks, pajamas, and toiletries at:
- Tufts University School of Medicine – Sackler Center 4th Floor
- Office of Student Affairs
- Hirsh Health Sciences Library Reference Desk
