Bates Day Registration Deadline @ Tufts University School of Dental Medicine

This year’s TUSDM Bates-Andrews Research Day is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Students who wish to present posters of their research at Bates Day are asked to submit a complete abstract of their work no later than January 18, 2019. Submissions for Bates Day must represent COMPLETED projects. Works-in-progress will not be accepted. Please be reminded that students who received funding to do research this year are required to present their research at Bates Day.

Hello everyone!

For our first event this semester, we are going to be attending this months Boston Healthcare Fellowship forum discussion, Religion and Medicine: Should they Mix? The discussion is free for us to attend, and is even followed with a dinner and discussion amongst your dinner table afterwards.

If you do plan to attend, in addition to RSVP’ing on the EVENBRITE page, please put your name and email in the google doc also posted below for us to reach out to you on meeting at Tufts at 6pm and traveling together. We will jump on the green line for less than a 20 minute commute!

Stigma Unstuck: A Mental Health Arts Series at Tufts @ 4th floor of the Collaborative Learning & Innovation Complex, CLIC Bldg.

You are invited to an Opening Reception for Stigma Unstuck: A Mental Health Art Series at Tufts on Thursday, January 24th at 5-7:30 p.m. in the 4th floor of the Collaborative Learning & Innovation Complex, CLIC Bldg. 574 Boston Ave, Medford.  Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend. To attend please click here to RSVP.

This event highlights the installation of The Many Faces of Mental Health, conceived of by artist Lynda Cutrell working in collaboration with partners from science and journalism, to address issues of stigma and mental illness. Large scale portraits, three-dimensional sculptures, video installations and paintings, as well as white boards for capturing viewers reactions, will be on view across all four floors of the CLIC building

Stigma Unstuck: A Mental Health Art Series at Tufts is a multi-event art and film series aimed at bringing greater awareness and understanding to mental health issues to facilitate shifts in attitudes that perpetuate stigma and discrimination in our community.

10th Annual ASDA District 1 Student Debate  @ Yankee Dental Congress in the Westin Waterfront Hotel Grand Ballroom

The 10th Annual ASDA District 1 Student Debate will be held at Yankee Dental Congress in the Westin Waterfront Hotel Grand Ballroom on Saturday, February 2nd at 4:30pm. An awards ceremony will kick off the debate, presented by MDS President, Dr. Howard Zolot
The Debate will feature multiple rounds of friendly competition between all five District 1 schools (Tufts, BU, Harvard, UNE and UConn) plus a pre-dental ream. Teams will face off across multiple rounds, arguing pertinent policy and ethical issues fronting students and practitioners alike.
Immediately following the Debate will be a student reception featuring a DJ, food, drinks, games, and a photo booth – this is a great opportunity to meet other District 1 students and local dentists!

Building up to the debate, participate in the Yankee Student Scavenger Hunt starting in the North Lobby and continuing on the exhibit hall floor. Start at the Welcome Center on Saturday, February 2nd for your first clue and complete the challenges – winners will be announced at the student reception.
